About the Artist

I am fascinated with color and love to combine interesting stones and colored pearls into jewelry that can be worn every day.  My favorite designs have interchangeable elements and can be worn in several ways.  Each design is original and made by my hands.  My practical nature and engineering background lead me to make things that are multi-functional and high quality.  I love dreaming up new designs and researching the skills and techniques required to make them possible.

I am drawn to make pieces that are labor-intensive to produce.  My handwoven pearl chains are based on a design for weaving metal that I adapted to incorporate pearls.  It takes about five hours for me to weave a pearl chain necklace (that then must be finished).  Many of my designs require pearls to be threaded on 20 or 22 gauge wire so I have to hand-drill these pearls.  As a result, I do not produce large quantities of my designs and only do about 3-4 retail shows each year.  When you meet me at a show, I am usually weaving a chain to demonstrate how it is done (and to make more of them)!
